Let’s go inland!

The next day we proceeded towards Camperdown, but the heat was killing us: In the afternoon Stefans tachometer showed 46 degrees! Therefore we had a two-hour break in Cobden where we enjoyed one or two ice creams. Weird enough, hardly anybody in around Victoria seems to know if their tap water is drinkable. We risked to drink it anyway and had no problems. 😉

During our ride we always had our eyes on the tree tops as well, looking for koalas but we only saw two: Both were lying on the road, dead. It seems they wanted to cross it in search for water and were thus hit by a car. 🙁

After some attacks by flies and the heat we finally reached our camp site at Lake Purrumbete. Two snakes who wanted to cross the road were welcoming us. 😉 When Stefan wanted to search for them again with his camera, the camp site owner told us they could be deadly…
We were nearly the only guests there in the middle of nowhere. This could explain why so many animals felt secure enough to show theirselves in the public, such as a quite big spider avoiding that Alexandra could enter the bathroom.

After a hot and uneasy night (would the snakes reappear????) we could gladly welcome another visitor: Directly above our heads a cute koala was hanging out. And when we were having breakfast he wanted to leave the tree which gave us the opportunity to see him closer… Sooooo cute! 🙂

In the meantime it had started to rain and so we got on our bicycles. As there was no camp site in a good distance from there we decided to cycle further. So after 111 km we arried at a camp site in the South of Geelong. It wasn’t really nice but we had our own bathroom and toilet. 😀
