Walking around at the Tongariro

After Taupo the Togariro Crossing was next on our list. But as the weather there is changing quickly, it can be tricky sometimes. However, in Turangi we booked a shuttle bus which would take us to the starting point of the 20 km long hiking tour, our car would wait for us at the ending point. Said and done, and already at 06:15 in the morning we were sitting in our bus.

After the bus driver had said a prayer in Maori and left, we had to climb a bit. Luckily, the last 12 km were mostly kind of flat or downhill. And the weather was brilliant! When the morning fog had disappeared, the sun entered the stage and it was a warm, sunny day.
Even though our feet hurt a bit at the end, it was a great experience and a nice hike. 🙂
